But, first, where to go? Readers of the Arkansas Times have plenty of good ideas.

Many familiar faces return to their accustomed places atop the categories in the Arkansas Times' annual reader poll of the best restaurants in Arkansas.

But there are many fresh faces this year. And that was a marked change from the 2001 contest, which reflected a decided lull in the state's restaurant business. . .

Not only are there more restaurants to choose from, the balloting reflects a growing diversity of choices . . .

Ballots were distributed in two issues of the Arkansas Times. They were counted by the Times staff. As usual, we made efforts to eliminate ballots that were produced by restaurant-organized campaigns. We also attempt to limit voting to individual restaurant locations, but some chains have become so standardized and ubiquitous that, in certain categories, we didn't attempt to differentiate.
